Hardneck garlic varieties, like Purple Glazer, are typically not made into braids because their inner stem/scape becomes brittle and is difficult to braid. Purple Glazer is such a beautiful garlic variety that we decided to buck the norm and braid it anyway. With some perseverance, a rolling pin, sore hands and some interesting new callouses (thanks Betty!) we are pleased to offer these beautiful braids!
These braids should be used up before December.
These braids are made of 13 bulbs each and weigh in at a cured weight of 1.5-2 lbs each.
Purple Glazer
Purple Glazer is a Glazed Purple Stripe out of the Republic of Georgia. It is a beautiful garlic with deep purple hues, silver undertones, and a satiny finish. It is well known as an excellent baking garlic with a rich and sweet flavor and fabulous raw with a robust and lasting flavor that is not too hot or lingering. Purple Glazer’s stunning deep purple wrappers make it a crowd favorite!

Shelf Life: Up to 6 months from harvest, so use by the end of December.
Preferred climate: Grows best in northern/cooler climates.
Yield: 6-8 bulbs per pound and 72-96 cloves per pound
